Maternity Madness

I finally decided that I had to put away the much-worn bella bands I have been sporting and graduate to maternity clothes. About a month ago, my friend Jaclyn generously lent me all of her maternity clothes (about 19 pieces)!! Then, last week right before Christmas, I decided I couldn't take it anymore and decided to head out to buy some maternity jeans. I ended up finding a Gap Maternity store in The Woodlands and scored some cute jeans with a nice comfy elastic band on sale for $15! I also picked up two cute tops and only spent $39 altogether. Then, when we went to Austin for Christmas, my wonderful sister loaded me up with TONS of cute maternity tops, jeans and pants. And since she had her baby last June, the seasons are perfect. I have another friend who also said I could borrow her maternity clothes when she has her baby in February! What a lucky girl am! I seriously don't know what I would've done without all the wonderful mommies in my life :) I even attemped on Saturday to wear my favorite pair of non-maternity jeans and I almost passed out from being so confined! Definitely have to retire most of my regular clothes for now. Since I have such cute maternity clothes, I don't really mind. My Gap jeans are already my bestfriend, it may be hard to go back to regular jeans after this baby is born...

Merry Christmas 2009

We hope everyone had as great a Christmas as we did. It was filled with family and fun. We spent Christmas Eve with Chad's family. First, we went to church and then to his cousins house for food and presents with his Dad's side, then we headed to his Grandparents and gave them their present, and then we went to Chad's parents to open presents with them. We were definitely spoiled with lots of wonderful presents, and we didn't get to bed until 2 a.m. It was a event filled night. When we got back to our apartment, Chad and I exchanged presents (Christmas jammies) with each other. We decided to copy our friends Damon and Jaclyn and make a tradition of giving eachother Christmas jammies to open Christmas Eve, so the next morning we are looking cute for pictures. The next morning, we got up bright and early and traveled to Austin to my sister's house to spend Christmas day with my side of the family. We had a great weekend, and baby Charlotte had a great first Christmas. We pretty much just stayed in the whole weekend, although Mom, Mer and I did venture out on Saturday to Buy Buy Baby, a baby store owned by Bed Bath and Beyond that they have in Austin. We looked at some baby stuff for Baby Pokorny. I got some cute bedding ideas and stroller ideas. Then that night, we all played Scrabble. We had such a fun Christmas with the family and we are so blessed to have such fun families to spend the holidays with.

Christmas Eve

Today is Christmas Eve! We have a busy day and night ahead of us. We are going to church downtown then to Chad's cousins house to spend time with the family, then to Chad's parents house to open presents and then tomorrow we are heading to Austin first thing in the morning to spend Christmas with my family! Can't wait to give everyone their presents :) We did good on staying within our budget this year and we didn't even have to venture to the mall. We hope everyone has a blessed and Merry Christmas and remembers what Christmas is really about.

14 Weeks

Well, I've made it to the 2nd trimester! Still no baby bump yet, and I think I MIGHT be feeling a little baby twitch now and then, but not sure. I did have to stop watching the twins this week, because my Doctor's office said I can't lift anything over 10 lbs. I have just been taking it easy and I have a few options on making some extra cash, so that is good, even though the pay cut will be tough. We go back to the doctor the beginning of January for our 16 week appointment. It seems like I will never start to show and I am very anxious waiting for all the fun stuff to begin! Hope I get that 2nd trimester burst of energy soon, I sure could use it!!!

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

I didn't think I would be posting these, since it's just baby bloat but here are my baby bump pictures so far!

14 weeks, am I showing yet??

12 week Dr. appt.

Last Thursday we got another ultrasound. The baby looks perfect! The neck measurement was great, the brain looked perfect and the baby was measuring right on time. We won't go back to the Doctor until the beginning of January, when I'll be 16 weeks. Then the appointment after that is to find out the sex. Tomorrow I will be in my 2nd trimester! At the doctor appointment, we got a DVD made of the baby and now we can watch it moving around and it's little heartbeat any time we want. We've been showing it off to friends and family and we're so proud. Unfortunately, I can't upload it to the computer :( But it is really cute and jumping around and even sucking or trying to suck it's little thumb. Only 2 more trimesters to go, can't believe how fast it is going by.

Ever since we found out we're expecting, Chad has been having dreams about the baby. When we wake up in the morning the first thing he says is "I had a dream about the baby last night!" It's really cute. It's funny, because in every dream the baby looks different. The other night he dreamt it had really big brown eyes (he said they were almost weirdly big) and it looked kind of hispanic or ethnic! He said it was really cute though. Then this morning he said he had a really vivid dream that it was a boy and it had light hair and lighter skin and it was the cutest thing he had ever seen in his life. He kept going on and on about how cute it was. Then he said we laid him on a pillow when he was just 2 days old and he started crawling off of it. I haven't really had any dreams about the baby yet, but in all my dreams I am always still pregnant and as far along as I am in real life. I figure I will start dreaming about the actual baby more when I get a little farther along and can feel the kicks.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Driving to work this morning, I heard the most incredible news and I was sooo excited. On Friday there is a 30% chance of SNOW!!! I called Chad to share the news as soon as I heard. I realize this doesn't mean it will snow for sure, but I have already gotten my hopes up. Last year, Chad and I were ticked because we moved back from Dallas just in time to miss the snow here (we were a couple of weeks late) and miss any snow in Dallas. At the beginning of '08 while we were both living in Denton, we got about 6 inches of snow. It was crazy!! It was the light fluffy snow too and the snowflakes were humongous. I had never seen so much snow before, except on a skiing trip. It was awesome. I know that there is almost no chance of it happening here, but even a snowflake or two would make my day. Let's pray the weatherman is right for a change.

Thanksgiving Day

I love traditions. I plan on keeping up with many from both of our families and of course adding a few new ones of our own. In my family, every year since I was little we go to Tyler to celebrate Thanksgiving with my Mom's side of the family. It's mostly extended family we only get to see that one time of the year. We all look forward to it all year long. Last year Chad and I had just gotten married and it was his first time to go. This year, I really tried to talk Chad into going again, since we only see that side of the family once a year and I was being a little selfish :) We decided to be fair we had to switch off every year so we stayed in town and spent it with his side of the family. I have to say it was nice not having to travel this year and we of course had fun with his family and the food was delicious. Every Thanksgiving morning, my family always puts on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, so of course, the first thing I did when I woke up was turn it on. Then I got started in the kitchen and made one of my favorite dishes my Mom makes every Thanksgiving, squash casserole. It turned out pretty good despite the fact I used the wrong stuffing on it. We had a great day and we have so much to be thankful for this year.

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas"

We had a great Thanksgiving this year. We stayed in town and spent it with Chad's side of the family. Every year, my family spends Thanksgiving in Tyler and last year Chad and I went, so we decided to switch off every year. After Thanksgiving dinner, we headed downtown Chad's brother and his wife's apartment. Right outside their apartment was the Uptown Holiday Lighting so we walked to it and saw the Christmas trees lining Post Oak get lit up by Santa, and then they had a huge fireworks show. There were tons of people there, so it was a little crowded for our taste, but still fun. The next day, Chad and I decided to go get a real Christmas tree so we went to the Old Time Christmas tree farm, which was pretty fun. You ride out to the trees on a tractor and cut down your own tree. We found the perfect one and got it home and it looks a lot bigger in our apartment, but we really love it. We spent the rest of the day decorating it and the rest of our apartment (and balcony) with lights. Last year, we didn't have any Christmas decorations or even a tree and this year we made up for it. I also added a picture of my belly at 11wks. As you can see, I can no longer button my jeans comfortably so my bella bands have been my bestfriend. Still bloated, but hopefully it will turn into baby belly soon.

This morning I took the new test Intelligender just for fun. It is supposedly 82% accurate in determining if you are having a boy or a girl and can be taken as early as 10 weeks! Of course, I had to rush out and buy it when I hit the 10 week mark. We had been talking about being "surprised" but decided I would regret doing the nursery neutral once the baby arrived. You are supposed to use your first morning urine so I woke up at about 4 a.m. Chad knew I was going to take it this morning but probably didn't anticipate me waking him that early. I don't think he was very coherent. I woke him up and said I took the test and to come look with me so we could see what it said together. The test definitely had a very clear result that said we were having a precious baby...

I was definitely surprised, and so was Chad. Of course, we won't know for sure until the end of January, but it will be interesting seeing if it was right. We are still keeping a open mind, but I have had fun today looking at boy baby bedding and thinking about names. I still can't believe in about 6 months we will have a real baby. I am getting excited to start showing and getting the nursery ready! Can't wait for the first trimester to be over, it feels like I've been pregnant for forever already. I did buy a few maternity clothes this week, but I haven't gained any weight yet. Sometimes I wonder if it's still in there since there is really no sign of it so far. We have our next ultrasound on Tuesday so hopefully it will look more like a real baby than the last time. I wish June would hurry up and get here already!

P.S. Don't forget to vote in our poll on the right side of our blog and tell us whether you think our baby is a boy or girl!

Switching Baby Doc's

Well Chad and I made the decision to switch obstetricians. We are now seeing a doctor who has much more up to date technology and is a lot closer to our apartment. I will be delivering at a hospital a lot nicer and a lot closer so it all has worked out great! We really like our new doctor. We had another ultrasound and got some more detailed info about our little bun. The due date is officially June 15th!! We got to see and hear the heartbeat which was so amazing, I can't even describe it. The heartbeat is going strong (and fast!) at 162 beats per minute!! I will try to upload the ultrasound picture soon. We go back in a couple of weeks and will get another ultrasound which they doctor said will be much more clear and it will look like a real baby :) I will be 9 weeks on Tuesday and we can't wait!!! I will also be starting to document my tummy (at the request of Chad) even though right now I just feel super bloated. I hope to start a little pregnancy scrapbook soon too. We have been having fun trying to guess if its a boy or girl with old wives tales. The wedding ring trick worked and it swung back and forth which means girl (and so does the fast heartbeat) so we will see!! At 10 weeks we plan to take the new intelligender at home test (just for fun) so I will let you know what it says in a couple weeks.

It's official... we've been married 1 year!!!

Yesterday was our First anniversary!! We both can't believe we've already been married a year. To celebrate, we ate at Brenner's on the Bayou. It was so yummy. They were really sweet to us too and gave us a free dessert and brought us two flutes of Shirley Temples since I can't drink and Chad didn't want to rub it in :) Chad gave me a beautiful bouquet of red roses and the sweetest card that made me cry (no way it was the pregnancy hormones) hehe :) We had a great anniversary and we are looking forward to this coming year!!

Birthday Celebration for Mom and Grandaddy!

My Mom's birthday was October 27th and her Dad's birthday is October 28th. He turned the big 85!! We celebrated at my sister's house on November 1. It was great to have the family get together. My Grandaddy's sister (Aunt Susie) and her husband (Uncle Jim) even drove up for the occasion! We had a lot of fun and it was so nice of Mer and Randall to have everyone over at their house. Happy Birthday Mom and Grandaddy!!! We love you!!!!
