Thanksgiving Day

I love traditions. I plan on keeping up with many from both of our families and of course adding a few new ones of our own. In my family, every year since I was little we go to Tyler to celebrate Thanksgiving with my Mom's side of the family. It's mostly extended family we only get to see that one time of the year. We all look forward to it all year long. Last year Chad and I had just gotten married and it was his first time to go. This year, I really tried to talk Chad into going again, since we only see that side of the family once a year and I was being a little selfish :) We decided to be fair we had to switch off every year so we stayed in town and spent it with his side of the family. I have to say it was nice not having to travel this year and we of course had fun with his family and the food was delicious. Every Thanksgiving morning, my family always puts on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, so of course, the first thing I did when I woke up was turn it on. Then I got started in the kitchen and made one of my favorite dishes my Mom makes every Thanksgiving, squash casserole. It turned out pretty good despite the fact I used the wrong stuffing on it. We had a great day and we have so much to be thankful for this year.

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas"

We had a great Thanksgiving this year. We stayed in town and spent it with Chad's side of the family. Every year, my family spends Thanksgiving in Tyler and last year Chad and I went, so we decided to switch off every year. After Thanksgiving dinner, we headed downtown Chad's brother and his wife's apartment. Right outside their apartment was the Uptown Holiday Lighting so we walked to it and saw the Christmas trees lining Post Oak get lit up by Santa, and then they had a huge fireworks show. There were tons of people there, so it was a little crowded for our taste, but still fun. The next day, Chad and I decided to go get a real Christmas tree so we went to the Old Time Christmas tree farm, which was pretty fun. You ride out to the trees on a tractor and cut down your own tree. We found the perfect one and got it home and it looks a lot bigger in our apartment, but we really love it. We spent the rest of the day decorating it and the rest of our apartment (and balcony) with lights. Last year, we didn't have any Christmas decorations or even a tree and this year we made up for it. I also added a picture of my belly at 11wks. As you can see, I can no longer button my jeans comfortably so my bella bands have been my bestfriend. Still bloated, but hopefully it will turn into baby belly soon.

Intelligender

This morning I took the new test Intelligender just for fun. It is supposedly 82% accurate in determining if you are having a boy or a girl and can be taken as early as 10 weeks! Of course, I had to rush out and buy it when I hit the 10 week mark. We had been talking about being "surprised" but decided I would regret doing the nursery neutral once the baby arrived. You are supposed to use your first morning urine so I woke up at about 4 a.m. Chad knew I was going to take it this morning but probably didn't anticipate me waking him that early. I don't think he was very coherent. I woke him up and said I took the test and to come look with me so we could see what it said together. The test definitely had a very clear result that said we were having a precious baby...

BOY!!!

I was definitely surprised, and so was Chad. Of course, we won't know for sure until the end of January, but it will be interesting seeing if it was right. We are still keeping a open mind, but I have had fun today looking at boy baby bedding and thinking about names. I still can't believe in about 6 months we will have a real baby. I am getting excited to start showing and getting the nursery ready! Can't wait for the first trimester to be over, it feels like I've been pregnant for forever already. I did buy a few maternity clothes this week, but I haven't gained any weight yet. Sometimes I wonder if it's still in there since there is really no sign of it so far. We have our next ultrasound on Tuesday so hopefully it will look more like a real baby than the last time. I wish June would hurry up and get here already!

P.S. Don't forget to vote in our poll on the right side of our blog and tell us whether you think our baby is a boy or girl!

Switching Baby Doc's

Well Chad and I made the decision to switch obstetricians. We are now seeing a doctor who has much more up to date technology and is a lot closer to our apartment. I will be delivering at a hospital a lot nicer and a lot closer so it all has worked out great! We really like our new doctor. We had another ultrasound and got some more detailed info about our little bun. The due date is officially June 15th!! We got to see and hear the heartbeat which was so amazing, I can't even describe it. The heartbeat is going strong (and fast!) at 162 beats per minute!! I will try to upload the ultrasound picture soon. We go back in a couple of weeks and will get another ultrasound which they doctor said will be much more clear and it will look like a real baby :) I will be 9 weeks on Tuesday and we can't wait!!! I will also be starting to document my tummy (at the request of Chad) even though right now I just feel super bloated. I hope to start a little pregnancy scrapbook soon too. We have been having fun trying to guess if its a boy or girl with old wives tales. The wedding ring trick worked and it swung back and forth which means girl (and so does the fast heartbeat) so we will see!! At 10 weeks we plan to take the new intelligender at home test (just for fun) so I will let you know what it says in a couple weeks.

It's official... we've been married 1 year!!!

Yesterday was our First anniversary!! We both can't believe we've already been married a year. To celebrate, we ate at Brenner's on the Bayou. It was so yummy. They were really sweet to us too and gave us a free dessert and brought us two flutes of Shirley Temples since I can't drink and Chad didn't want to rub it in :) Chad gave me a beautiful bouquet of red roses and the sweetest card that made me cry (no way it was the pregnancy hormones) hehe :) We had a great anniversary and we are looking forward to this coming year!!

Birthday Celebration for Mom and Grandaddy!

My Mom's birthday was October 27th and her Dad's birthday is October 28th. He turned the big 85!! We celebrated at my sister's house on November 1. It was great to have the family get together. My Grandaddy's sister (Aunt Susie) and her husband (Uncle Jim) even drove up for the occasion! We had a lot of fun and it was so nice of Mer and Randall to have everyone over at their house. Happy Birthday Mom and Grandaddy!!! We love you!!!!

Happy 24th Birthday, Honey!!!

Chad turned 24 on October 16th!! He went hunting for his birthday weekend. He had a great time even though they didn't get anything. It was his first time to go bow hunting and he had been dying to go for a while. We celebrated his birthday at his parents house with yummy food and a chocolate cake his Mom makes for him every year. Then on his actual birthday I bought him a tie that he loves and a new leather case for all his bathrooms stuff when he travels. He also got binoculars which he's been wanting for forever, and I picked up a yummy cookie cake for him. Although he did say his favorite present was the baby. What a good Daddy he will be! :) Happy Birthday, sweetheart! I love you!!
