20 Weeks

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

19 Weeks

What baby is up to this week:
Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

Rockets Game

A couple of weeks ago Chad and I headed downtown for the Rockets v. Knicks game. We went early and ate some yummy Italian food before the game and had such a fun date night. The game was pretty exciting and Chad was really into it the whole time. He is still sweet though, and wants me to get into it too, so he has no problem explaining stuff during the game. It was a really close game and the Rockets ended up winning! I even got pretty into it the last quarter. It was freeezing cold that night (in the 20's) but that didn't stop us from getting icecream, ha! It was such a fun night, I love nights like that with my husband. Pretty soon it won't be just the two of us anymore, so we better get in all the date nights we can!

There really is a baby in there

Last night, Chad felt the baby kick for the first time!! Everytime he/she kicks, and he tries to feel it, the baby stops but last night it gave his hand a good kick! It was so amazing and a moment we will never forget. I was laying on the couch and Chad was working on his laptop on the coffee table when baby started kicking. He had tried to feel it several times already with no luck, but he/she decided to kick him this time. It put the hugest grin on both of our faces. We can't wait to find out what we are having in less than a week now!!!!!!

Nesting & Mer's Birthday

So, I think the nesting period is setting in. I read that it can start around 5 months, so I guess that is about right. I was cleaning like a mad woman all day yesterday. Get this- I even scrubbed the balcony floor with comet. Today I plan to start organizing the cabinets. Ugh seems like I will never get this place in order, and the kicker is this isn't even the same apartment we'll be in when the bambino comes! I have been feeling he/she kick me several times a day and have even felt it with my hand a few times, although everytime Chad tries to feel, the kicking stops. I'm sure he will feel it very soon though. It feels like a little muscle spasm. One was pretty hard on Saturday!

This weekend me and Chad went our seperate ways, he went to go hunting with his friends and brother (hog hunting, deer season is over) and I went to Austin to celebrate Mer's birthday with her! I had such a good time with my sister and I hope she had a good birthday! Charlotte was cracking me up the whole time, she loves making spit bubbles. Me, Mer and Evan went and saw New Moon (it was my 3rd time- sad I know, but I love that movie!) and Sunday me and Mer went to get a little pampered by getting some much needed pedicures :) I headed home soon after that. It was so good to have some sister time. Love you, Mer!

Baby Flutters

I think I am definitely feeling the baby! It's so exciting. I've thought I've been feeling it, but wasn't sure, but now I am definitely convinced it is our little one saying hello! I feel it when I am sitting down, and when I change positions. It sometimes feels like little bubbles popping and sometimes like a heartbeat or a fish swimming. Sooo neat. I love it and I can't wait until those kicks get stronger and stronger! Chad is anxious to feel it too :) We are so in love with our baby!!

17 week Appointment

Today I am 17 weeks, and his morning we had our 17 week appointment. Everything looks great and we heard the heartbeat on the doppler!! Love that sound. 156 beats per minute, the slowest it's been so far and still pretty fast!! All the screening tests have come back with great results, we are so thankful. I had to get some more blood drawn to screen for a couple of other things, but everything should be good! And the most exciting part of the appointment was setting up our BIG Ultrasound. We find out if our baby is a boy or a girl in 3 WEEKS!!!! January 26th, hurry up!!

New Years

This New Years Eve, we met up with Kara and David at her sister's house and went with a bunch of people to a hibachi grill. The place was pretty good, but it took forever to get our food. I hadn't eaten much that day, since we had been out shopping for dress clothes for Chad all day. By the time I got my food, and ate about half, I was having horrible stomach cramps. It felt like my stomach was folded over about 4 times, it was horrible. So we cut our night short, and Chad and I headed home after we ate. We made it home just in time to catch the ball drop on TV and we had a nice New Years kiss. I love New Years, and it has a special meaning for me and Chad because New Years 2002 we shared our very first kiss. Hard to believe that was 8 years ago, and here we are married with a baby on the way. We spent New Years Day just being lazy and we caught a movie with our friends Jaclyn and Damon. We finally saw The Blindside and it was pretty good, despite the fact that I fell asleep since it was a later movie. I am looking forward to 2010 and everything this next year will bring!!! Hope everyone had a great New Years!
