33 Weeks

5-7 more weeks until we meet our baby! Everything is going good. My feet and ankles have been swelling off and on, but they seem to be doing better this week. I feel like I've had a growth spurt or something, because I definitely cannot bend over easily anymore at all. Tomorrow we are going to interview a pediatrician, I will feel relieved after we nail one down. My baby shower is coming up Saturday and me and Chad are both really excitied!

How your baby's growing:

This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

Relaxing Weekend

This weekend was nice and low-key. Saturday morning we woke up and decided to head to my parents house to hang out in the pool. We spent the day floating in the pool and grilling out. We decided to stay the night and had a delicious steak dinner complete with brownie sundaes for dessert.... yum!!! We played a game of girls v. boys spaids and then we watched the movie The Lovely Bones (well, me and my mom were the only ones who ended up staying awake... the boys had a little too much fun in the sun) which was pretty creepy and didn't really have an ending we were crazy about, oh well. We hung out in the backyard the majority of Sunday too while my parents ran some errands for my baby shower Saturday. Sunday evening we went home and changed and went to see Chad's grandparents because his Grandmother has been having some back problems. She is doing better now, but still needs some prayers to get back to her normal self. We showed his grandparents the DVD of Graham's latest ultrasound and they even got to feel him moving and kicking a little bit. Overall, it was a great weekend. Next weekend will be more eventful. I have my babyshower Saturday (Can't wait!!!) and then my Dad's birthday Sunday.

Ultrasound and Dr. Appt.

This morning we had our ultrasound! It has been 12 weeks since we had one and we were so excited to see our baby again. He has definitely bulked up since he was 20 weeks! He is 4lbs., 1 oz. and was measuring at 32 wks. 0 days gestation which is awesome since I am 32 weeks 1 day. That puts him in the 40th percentile the Doctor said. The amniotic fluid looks good, and he is laying a little diaganol like I thought, but he is head down and will most likely be in the right position in the next few weeks. It was so funny because he was trying to stick his little foot in his mouth! He also has chubby cheeks and the ultrasound tech said she could see he has some hair on his sweet little head. One of the nurses later told us if they could see hair, then it is dark b/c you can't see blond hair on the ultrasound very well. His heartbeat was good at 157 bpm, and everything looks really good! We go back in 3 weeks, and that is when he will test me for group B strep. We are really closing in on the end now and we are getting more excited every day. Tonight my parents are coming over to take us to dinner and watch the ultrasound video. Everyone is getting so excited to meet baby Graham!

32 Weeks

Wow, the time is really flying by now. Only 8 weeks left and 6 until I am full-term.... crazy!!!!! We have a doctor appointment tomorrow morning (with ultrasound) and we can't wait to see our little punkin' again! I am very interested to see what position he is in.... I was reading in my "What to Expect when You're Expecting" book and I think he might be in the oblique position (diagonal with his head pointing toward my hip)... and has been for a while. Hopefully if he is, he will start turning downward soon. I could be totally wrong though, so we will see... I also just called and set up our first interview with a pediatrician. He was recommended by family and supposedly really good with kids so hopefully it will work out. I am going to start reading and singing lull-a-byes to baby Graham this week. I have been a slacker Mom and occasionally talk to him but feel like I should more than I do. I know he will know our voices anyway from just talking to eachother and other people, but I think it would be good to talk specifically to him more. Anway, I will update tomorrow after our appt.

How your baby's growing:

By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

This saturday I turned 24! Chad woke me up at 7:52 a.m. (the time I was born) to wish me Happy Birthday :) We made french toast for breakfast then headed to The Woodlands mall to spend some of my birthday money. We mostly went into baby stores (Janie and Jack... love that store) and maternity stores. I got a couple of good deals on some maternity tops and a pair of khaki capri's and then we went to the movies at Market Street and saw Date Night. It was pretty funny! What might have even been slightly more entertaining was the fact that Mr. Graham did some crazy moves through the whole movie! Chad and I were cracking up. Then we went to one of my favs, Tommy Bahama's for dinner, yum! We stuffed ourselves then went home and rented a movie and ate my birthday cake Chad had gotten me. It was a great birthday spent with my favorite two boys :)

Us at dinner

Me and my bday cake, Chad got me all blue candles this year :)

Sunday we went to church and then just hung out at the apartment and had a lazy day since it was stormy all day. Then we had my parents, Chad's parents and Kara and David (Chad's brother and his wife) over and we all went to my birthday dinner at Goodson's. Of course the pregnant girl picks one of the top 10 places to "pig out" in Houston ;) Then we headed back to our apartment for cake and icecream. My Dad kept up the tradition of making his famous chocolate sheet cake for my birthday. We always have so much fun hanging out with the fam. I got many sweet text messages, calls, and cards from family and friends for my birthday. I am one lucky girl!! Thanks to all my wonderful family and friends and especially my hubby for making my birthday so special!

Nursery in Progress!

Putting the crib together:

Hard at work:

All painted! We love how the color turned out!

Graham's closet! Thanks for the diapers Grandma and Peepaw!! (Chad's parents)

Our New Apartment

I thought I would post some pics of our new apartment! We really like it, and we hope Mr. Teddy Graham will too!

the previous owners put in a little garden, so cute!

Still a little plain, I am getting curtains soon though to dress it up!

31 Weeks

31 weeks down, 9 to go! This weekend was busy again. We started on Graham's nursery, got it painted and hung a few things on the wall. I can't wait to finish it! We really love it so far, Chad is always saying, "wanna go look in the nursery again?" It's our favorite room now :) We are getting very excited to meet Mr. Graham! We think he is getting excited to meet us too, because last night when we felt him, we pushed on him a little and he pushed back. It was so neat. He has had the hiccups a few times that I've felt and he his starting to roll a bunch.

Friday night we went to the Drive-In. We love going there, and it's so cheap! The only problem I have is staying awake for both movies, especially now. We ate some candy during the movie and I think I gave Graham a sugar rush because he moved non-stop for a long time... oops!! I was kind of scared I did some damage, but he seems to be fine :)

Then Saturday, we painted the nursery with the help of Chad's parents. They were such a big help, we couldn't have done it without them! Chad's Dad was especially good with getting the corners because he used to work for a homebuilder. Then that night me and Chad hit up Hobby Lobby and picked up a few decorative items for the walls. I have big ideas for the room, so I can't wait to finish it. Sunday my parents got home from their cruise so we had them over for enchiladas and showed them the nursery.

Last night, we took a tour of the hospital where I'll be delivering. We've heard really great things about the hospital, so I feel like I will be in good hands. We got lots of info and it really made it seem real that we will be back there in just a few weeks!

How your baby's growing:

This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

30 Weeks

This week I hit 30 weeks!! Only 10 more (give or take) to go!! We went to the Dr. Tuesday afternoon and everything looks good! I did good on my weight gain and in 2 more weeks we go back and get an ultrasound. I can't wait to see Graham again, we haven't seen him since our 20 week appointment. The time really seems like it is flying by now, and I am getting so anxious to meet him. He has been moving around quite a bit lately and the other night we felt him have the hiccups. My feet have been a little swollen lately, especially Easter night, but they seem to be doing better. I feel like we have so much to do before he arrives, but I know it is slowly getting accomplished. I can't wait for my baby shower on May 1st! This weekend we might start working on painting his nursery so stay tuned for pictures!

How your baby's growing:

Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Hjs eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means he can only make out objects a few inches from his face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)

Maternity Pictures by Cortney Russell

A couple of weeks ago, we had our maternity pictures taken. I'm so happy with how they turned out. Our friend Cortney Russell took them and she is an amazing photographer. Check out her website. She even did a blog post about us :) I can't wait to order pictures and frame them! Here is a sneak peek:

Easter Weekend

This year my sister and her family came into town for Easter since our parents were leaving for a caribbean cruise Sunday. We had a blast with our family this weekend and I always feel so blessed to have such wonderful families after spending time with them. We have been busy, busy, busy this week moving and I am happy to say we are in our new apartment and all moved in! We even set up Graham's crib! ( I will post pictures soon...) Saturday afternoon my parents, Mer and Randall and the kiddos stopped by to check out our new apartment, then we headed to my parents for Easter dinner. We had lots of yummy food and apple pie and icecream for dessert. Then we hung out in the backyard in the hot tub ( dont' worry, I didn't get all the way in ;) Then when we woke up the next day we had a delicious breakfast and Mer and Randall and Evan and Charlotte joined Chad and I for church.

After church, we went back to our parents house and had lunch and layed out by the pool until Mer and Randall had to hit the road. Then, later that evening we went to Chad's Grandparent's house for hamburgers and hot dogs. It was a great Easter and we were so glad we had wonderful families to share it with.
