34 Weeks

Week 34 of Pregnancy

A boy baby's testicles descend this week (whoopee!), but Mom should also look out below — and above — as her vision becomes less sharp.
Your Baby in Week 34 of Pregnancy
What's new this week? Your baby is clocking in at five pounds and could be as tall as 20 inches by now, and the vernix (the white coating protecting your baby’s skin) is getting thicker. This week, a boy's testicles start making their way down from his abdomen to their final destination: his scrotum (look out below!). While about three to four percent of boys are born with undescended testicles, it's nothing to worry about — they usually head downtown before junior turns a year old. In other baby-related developments, those tiny fingernails have probably reached the tips of his fingers by now — and getting ready for that first postpartum manicure.

I am feeling pretty good still, but getting more tired. We have been working hard on the nursery and it's almost completely finished! Chad has been busting his butt setting up all the furniture and hanging all the decorations. He has gotten home from work the past few days and went straight to work on the nursery. He is such a good Daddy already, and has done so much for our little baby. The only thing I have to do is wash the bedding and sheets and exchange the curtains I bought yesterday for longer ones. We love going in the nursery, its the first thing we do in the morning, ha! I will post pictures as soon as the rest of the family sees it in person. I am getting tired easily and still having some trouble sleeping, mainly due to the many bathroom trips I have to make each night. I have also been getting heartburn/indigestion at night, yuck! In the middle of the night last night I woke up feeling sick to my stomach. Not sure what that was about, but I feel better this morning. I finally bought a baby book yesterday, and I'm so excited to start on it. I got it from Target, and it's so cute. I can't wait to fill it all out. I know most baby books get filled out maybe 1/2 way and then get forgotten when Momma gets busy, but I am really going to try and fill out every page. Only 3 weeks until I am considered full-term!!
