The Scoop On Our New Addition :)

Before Chad and I were even married, Chad always said by the time our first baby is one, he wants me to already be pregnant again. I wasn't opposed to the idea, but I definitely had some reservations... Then June came around and it was Graham's first birthday & the infamous "Baby Fever" had already set in! Let me backtrack...

When Graham was first born, (more specifically, right after he popped out) my first thought was, How can I ever do that again? All through his first months, I told myself that I wasn't even going to think about it until Graham was 2. Then as Graham got older, the baby weight dropped (and my memory of childbirth got hazier) I began to want another. It was around March/April when we took Graham to the beach for the first time, and we kept thinking It would be so nice to have two babies with us. We decided to toy with the idea of getting pregnant again. Then, as I was thinking of timing and when I'd get pregnant and what my due date month would be, I knew I did not want to be huge pregnant in the summer again. I was so swollen and miserable!!! And, for Houston, summer lasts from about May to mid-October. But, I didn't want to wait another year to get pregnant to have a winter baby. I really liked the idea of close to two years apart. So, that gave us only a couple possible months to conceive (May/June/July). Then, we realized I needed my wisdom teeth out before I got pregnant, so we scheduled that for the earliest date that worked, June 17th. We couldn't start trying until after that, so I thought for sure we would miss the month of June and (hopefully) get pregnant in July. As it turns out, the Lord had a wonderful plan and 3 weeks later, the morning of July 17th, we had a positive test!! I truly can't believe it happened so fast!

We had our first doctor's appointment today, and it was very similar to our first appointment with Graham. I am measuring a couple weeks behind what I should be according to my last period, which is a little concerning. However, my cycles are known to be far apart, and it seems I just ovulate really late in my cycle. We had an ultrasound to basically date my pregnancy, and all we could see so far is the gestational sac. I am measuring 5 weeks, 5 days and I had my blood taken to check hormone levels. They should call tomorrow with the results and I go back Monday to get my blood drawn again to see how much the hormones have gone up. On the 11th we'll go in for another ultrasound to see our sweet baby! I should be around 7 weeks. Even though we are fairly certain everything is normal with our baby, we appreciate your prayers. The same thing happened with Graham, so it is a little less stressful this time around.

I am feeling pretty good still, except for some fatigue (it doesn't help that we have a teething 14 month old keeping us up at night!) Gagging when I brush my teeth, the tell-tale tender boobs started last night, and I already feel the baby bloat (awesome). Other than that, no real nausea. Hopefully I will again be among the lucky few who get to skip the dreaded morning sickness.

We feel so blessed that the Lord is trusting us with another baby. I am so excited to be pregnant again, and to give Graham a baby brother or a baby sister. We appreciate all your prayers for a healthy and happy baby and pregnancy!!!

“We prayed for this child and the Lord has granted us what we asked of Him.”

Galveston Family Trip 2011

We had a great week with my side of the family! Growing up, every summer we would rent a beach house with my Aunt and Uncle and cousin Matt. It was so much fun, and we all have such great memories. We decided to revive the tradition this year, and we all got together for a week of beach fun. It was Chad, Graham and I, my sister and her family, my parents and my Aunt Patti and Uncle Todd. Matt had an internship in New Jersey (He is getting is Masters at the University of Chicago, and got his degree from Yale.... I guess he inherited all the brains in the family!!) We hung out on the beach (Graham enjoyed eating sand...) took the kids to Murdoch's and  the Rainforest Cafe one rainy day (Graham was a little scared of the loud noises and terrified of the River Ride Adventutre, poor baby!) Played cards, and board games, had a shrimp boil, made s'mores, fished, and watched Tangled about 500 times! :) A great time was had by all!! But, we were ready to come home. A week is a long time to have a 1 year old off his schedule in a non-baby proofed beach house!!! In fact, while we were loading the car on Sunday, I turned around for a second and then realized Graham was nowhere to be found.... he had climbed up the whole entire staircase all by himself!!!! Way to give your Mom a heartattack, Graham!!! Ha! Enjoy the pictures!! :)

Lunch With Daddy

Yesterday morning, Graham and I had our bible study/ playgroup with our friends, and then met Chad for lunch since the house we met at was close to his office. It's such a treat getting to see him during the day, and to visit with his co-workers at the office. Graham got to sit in a booster seat for the first time like a big boy! Graham has been a Daddy's boy lately, toddling around saying "DADA DADA" all day long. So cute.  So he was glad to get his Dada fix to tide him over. :)

What a Difference a Year Makes

When I ran across this picture of Graham in the pool for the first time last year, I had to compare it to the picture we took last weekend. Same pool, same two boys, but what a difference that first year makes!

12 on the 12th

I've seen posts like this on other blogs, so I thought I'd join in on the fun!! I think I've seen 10 on 10, but today was the 12th, so I modified :) Take 12 pictures for 12 hours on the 12th day of the month. Document the beauty in everyday life!
8 a.m.

after breakfast Graham plays until naptime around 9...
9 a.m.

Graham naps, I drink coffee and watch the Today show....
10 a.m.
I do a few chores before Graham gets up usually around 11, but he woke up early today...

I tried something new and put a few toys in Graham's crib when he woke up
early and he played while I got a quick shower in.
11 a.m.

Graham finishes some milk from his sippy and eats
some ravioli for lunch
12 p.m.

Graham cracks me up and randomly lays down in the middle of the floor. He does this occasionally. I think he just has so much energy, he just runs out and needs to take a few seconds to recharge! Ha!

I fill up his 2nd sippy cup of the day.
1 p.m.
Graham and I head out to go to a store, and I notice some dark clouds.
Hopefully we'll finally get some good rain. This drought is crazy!!!
2 p.m.
Getting in the car to head home. He cracks me up with his legs like that!
3 p.m.
I have some quiet time on the back porch with my bible study. Graham took a looong nap,
so I got a lot done! I was pretty behind on it.
4 p.m

I do some chores, Tuesday is mopping day... such a glamorous life I lead ;)
5 p.m.

Graham plays in the kitchen....

And plays in his room....

Momma reads to him, tickles him and chases him.

6 p.m.

Daddy gets home, and we all go for a little walk in the neighborhood,
then Chad feeds Graham dinner while I start dinner for us.
7 p.m.

Chad gives Graham his bath, puts him in his p.j.'s and gives him
his bottle while I read him his daily Bible story. Then, it's bedtime for Mister Graham.
8 p.m.

Chad and I eat dinner. We had soft tacos and rice. Aren't we fancy? ;)

There you have it! That's a pretty typical day in our life.
