Life at the Moment

Life has been moving way too fast in some ways and SO sloooow in others these days. On Monday I'll be 37 weeks.... "Full Term" and that has my head spinning! In the past few weeks, we've gotten A LOT done, so I feel pretty prepared at this point. Can you ever be fully prepared for a new baby, though?????
Dryer full of PINK clothes!!!!

As prepared as I feel we are, I know there are BIG adjustments coming for Graham. I am honestly pretty nervous for him. I've had a few tearful nights thinking about what it will be like for him to go from "the center of the universe" to having to share his Mama and Daddy. I know in my heart this will be a good thing for him, especially in the long run, but it still makes me worry about my first baby's feelings and how he will adjust. I know all mom's feel like this before welcoming a second baby into their family, so I guess it's just something I have to go through. I've tried my best to prepare him, without going overboard. He knows what a "baby" is, that "Baby Claire" is in mommy's tummy, and as I type this, he ran over to the swing we just put up today, said "baby! baby!" and put his bear in it. I never even told him that was for Claire!!!  I think he understands a lot more than we give him credit for, but still, he is in many ways still a baby himself! Anyway, I plan to write a post very soon dedicated to my sweet baby boy, so I'll just save more of my thoughts on this for later.

After an afternoon nap, watching Mickey of course! I look swollen and tired!!
 Definitely 9 months pregnant!!!

As far as everyday life goes these days, Graham and I have been going on like normal for the most part. I've been super on top of laundry and keeping the house picked up, but "deep cleaning" has kind of fallen to the wayside at this point. Chad said he'd mop the kitchen and vacuum for me this weekend because he doesn't want me to do it. (What a sweet husband I have!!!) As soon as I hit 37 weeks though, I plan to do as much as I can do physically and hopefully that will help her come on her own :) Braxton Hicks are still a regular (and often painful) occurrence. Next Thursday I'm going to eat with some girlfriends at PF Changs (I ate there 2 days before going into labor with Graham). That night is also a full moon and Gracie's birthday (my sweet little cousin and flower girl at our wedding) :) At the same time, my sister's in-laws will be in town from New Jersey next week, so she is hoping I won't go into labor while they're there!
Best friends :)
Graham is such a character these days. He is just as attached to his bear and paci as ever (they go everywhere with us), not to mention Mickey Mouse. If the TV is on, it has to be Mickey. It's kind of a problem. He has had a cough for the past week or so, but no fever and it's getting better on its own. Tantrums are becoming a more frequent occurrence, but they are still short-lived. He has also learned the word "No!" Is it terrible that even when he is being a little pistol, I still think it's so darn cute?? I know it won't be in a few months, but I just can't help it. I try my hardest not to let him know, though. We have had to do "time out" a few times. We just put him in his room by himself and shut the door for about 30 seconds, and then talk to him about why he was in time-out afterward. It seems to do the trick---he HATES time-out and cries and cries until we open the door.

Going on a donut run with Mama this morning (breakfast for a morning play date)
This weekend we have my maternity pictures, Tripp's birthday party, and I'm going to try and sneak in a prenatal massage :) I am happy to say Claire's nursery is COMPLETED with the exception of her wooden monogram which should arrive next week I'm thinking. I need to take some pictures as soon as I'm done washing her sheets, blankets and newborn clothes. OK, I think I feel pretty caught up now!! Here's one last picture of my little monkey...........
Stealing a sip from Mama's water. Why does everything taste better if it's Mom or Dad's?? :)

36 Weeks {9 Months Pregnant!!!!}

This morning I had my doctor's appointment which kicked off my weekly check-ups!  My weight gain and blood pressure were great, 68/112 (or something like that) and Claire's heartbeat was in the high 150's, low 160's which my doctor said was perfect. Claire is still head down, but hasn't dropped yet. She did an internal and I am dialated to a (small) 1 and 50% effaced!

How Far Along: 36 Weeks

Size of baby: A coconut! At my check up my doctor said she was probably around 6 pounds!

Total Weight Gain: 23 pounds

Maternity Clothes: Of course!

Movement: I think we have a pretty active little girl on our hands. A few times this week, I felt some sharp jabs to my ribs which made me yell out in pain. She still favors my right side, and will push back if I push on her.

Sleep: Same as last week: Sleeping good still. I think my pregnancy pillow has been my saving grace for sure!

What I miss: Being able to lay on my stomach, roll out of bed easy, and chase Graham around as much as I want. It's getting harder and harder to haul Graham around and get him in and out of his crib. I'm still managing fine on my own during the day, but I defnitely have no problem with Chad's help in the evenings and on the weekends. Graham is also getting really good about holding my hand and walking when I need him to. In the evenings when I'm trying to cook he seems to be the clingiest to me.

Cravings: Cheesecake!

Symptoms:  Still noticing the swelling. Wedding ring is getting pretty tight. I am still feeling that soreness right on my rib cage and lots of braxton hicks.

Best Moment This Week: Getting her nursery finished (with the exception of 2 things for the walls)

What I'm looking forward to: Touring the hospital tonight and a date with Chad beforehand at Cheesecake Factory :) Washing her clothes, sheets and blankets and packing the hospital bag. I'm also actually really looking forward to labor. Particularly how and when I'm going to go into labor this time. I'm not the only one either, my mom told me when I picked up Graham after my appointment today that everytime I call she's on high alert wondering if this is The Call... haha...

Milestones:  She's getting closer and closer to being able to breathe on her own. Her skin is getting smooth and soft and her gums are rigid. Her liver and kidneys are in working order. Circulation and immune systems are basically good to go, too.
The belly.... 36 Weeks!!!

Catching Up

Besides the trip to L&D, I never did write about what we did for Valentine's Day. It was pretty low-key this year. Graham and I had a little lunch date at Chick-fil-A. I wanted to do something special with him, and I had found a ton of cute V-day ideas on PINTEREST, but I was too lazy/pregnant to get around to any of that. So, off to Chick-fil-A we went. He was not a fan of the Chick-fil-A cow that was there greeting the kids. He was so scared he was actually shaking!!! Poor baby :( Everyone was apologizing to us for scaring him, haha!
Graham's lunch date with Momma

After lunch, we went to Target to pick up a few last minute Valentine's goodies for the grandparents. I got it in my head that we would surprise Chad's mom and my parents at work and Graham  could give them Valentine's. I also picked up a few goodies for Graham (A Mickey Mouse t-shirt, new shoes, socks and a pack of play-doh). Anyway, we ended up spending too much time in Target, so we only made it to Chad's mom's work. She loved her surprise Valentine and we had one for Pepaw too. Graham was so cute, running up to her with her card going "Card! Here go!" "Here go!" So, so precious!!! We gave my parents their Valentine's later that night when they came over to babysit.
Visiting Grandma at work

Chad and I went to our favorite local Italian restaurant. It's fairly small and has a really nice/romantic atmosphere. It's family owned and everyone there is so nice and always takes good care of us. We split our usual, a calzone with caesar salads and shared a delicous chocolate dessert. During dinner is when my contractions started, so you know what happened after that.

This past weekend we went to Graham's friend Judd's 2nd birthday party at a local Children's Museum. Graham loves that place, he is so fast these days I was glad to have Chad with us to chase him.

Playing at the Children's Museum

That evening I had made one of our new favorite meals. Ranch House Crock-Pot Pork Chops with Parmesan Mashed Potatoes so we ate that and then Chad's parents watched Graham while we went to see The Vow. It was pretty good, nothing over-the-top great about it, but we liked it. Sunday, we went to church and then picked up a fridge from Chad's parents that they had been using in their garage that they didn't need anymore. It's so nice having the extra storage in our garage now!! I already made double for dinner the other night and froze half so we have a meal ready to go after Claire is born.
Ranch House Pork Chops and Parmesan Mashed Potatoes with salad. SOOO yummy and easy!!
Graham looooved this meal, he literally licked the plate!!!

I'm still having lots of Braxton Hicks, and I have an appointment on Monday where I'll be checked to see my progress. I know I still have several weeks to go, but I'm getting anxious. Today the cradle was delivered and her chandlier is supposed to be here by Saturday. I can't wait to get those set up!!!

We went to Target on Monday and dropped a small forturne on getting the rest of the essentials for Claire and me and a bunch of groceries. Claire still needed a mattress for her crib, newborn socks, a newborn care-kit and I couldn't resist an adorable pair of gold shoes for her. I got some nursing essentials (2 shirts, 3 bras, lansinoh, nursing pads). Can't believe in probably less than a month I will be a nursing mom again. I hope the begnining is easier the second time around! This week I also ordered her some flower headbands from Etsy. The stores are Pretty Baby Bowtique and Headband Blossoms. I can't wait until they arrive!!

Sooo precious!!!! I can't wait to put these on her!!!
I tried to get colors she could wear with several different outfits.

Last night my mom came over to help me since Chad had to go to the rodeo cook-off for a work function. Graham is coming down with something, and threw up yesterday and has a cough. I was supposed to go to dinner with some friends, but decided I should stay home with Graham since he was being so clingy and fussy. He doesn't have much of an appetite either, which is not like him at all. I am praying I don't catch whatever it is so close to Claire's due date and that Graham gets better soon. We've been couped up this week and I had to get out of the house for a bit, so we grabbed a quick bite at a local 50's diner and then came home and put Graham to bed. He had a hard time with naps yesterday and going to bed last night. Around 11 I finally brought him into our bed until Chad got home.

Playing with the cozy coupe outside earlier this week
I had a ton more contractions last night and my mom is positive Claire will be here in a couple of weeks! I hope so, because as much as I love being pregnant, I'm kind of over it at this point. I am starting to retain some water and I have had to retire my wedding ring for now. I just want to deliver her before I start swelling too bad. I go to the doctor on Monday and we tour the hospital Monday night. Next week I'll probably pack the hospital bag and wash her blankets and clothes so that will all be taken care of by the time I'm 37 weeks. After the chandelier arrives (hopefully by Saturday) I'll post the pictures of her nursery!

Playdate Wednesday morning with friends!
If you made it throught this super long post, thank you!!! :) Hoepfully Monday I will have some pictures of Claire's nursery up and some news from the doctor that I've made some progress. Have a great weekend!!

35 Weeks

How Far Along: 35 Weeks... last week in the 8th month!

Size of baby:Butternut Squash about 17.2 to 18.7 inches.

Total Weight Gain: 146.4; 21 pounds gained

Maternity Clothes: Need to get some nursing bras and tanks soon.

Movement: Some painful jabs to the ribs, still feeling that movement far over on my right side (weird that I never feel her that far over on my left) She gets hiccups often, and is most active in the evening after dinner and in the early morning.

Sleep:Sleeping good still. I think my pregnancy pillow has been my saving grace for sure!

What I miss: Being able to lay on my stomach, roll out of bed easy, and chase Graham around as much as I want.

Cravings: Cereal, comfort food

Symptoms:  Started noticing some swelling at night, mostly in my feet. Defnitely feel like I'm retaining water in my legs. Continuing Braxton Hicks, some crampiness in my lower back and stomach at times. Some heartburn, and tiredness. Also, at the top of my stomach is really sore. I hope she drops soon so I can maybe get some relief from that.

Best Moment This Week: Ordering her cradle, monogram, and chandlier!

What I'm looking forward to: Getting all the online stuff we ordered in, packing the hospital bag, washing her newborn clothes and blankets

Milestones:  From here on out, she won't get much longer, but she's plumping up. She's now about 4.2 to 5.8 pounds, and she'll put on a pound or more of baby fat before birth. Now, her hearing is fully developed, and she responds best to high-pitched noises.

It's Almost That Time...

When I was pregnant with Graham getting the hospital bags packed for some reason stressed me out. Maybe it's part of the nesting instinct, but I felt like I was going to forget something major and there was nothing I could do to make me feel completely and totally "prepared"!! This time, I feel a twinge of that same anxiety, but I feel a little more capable. I know what to bring and what the hospital will provide. I know it's not the end of the world if the house isn't spotless when I go into labor. I'll probably take my time laboring at home a little and take a shower and straighten up the house before we leave. When I went into labor with Graham I had just been put on bed rest earlier that day, so there were dishes in the sink and clutter still around when we got home from the hospital. My sweet Mother-in-law straightened up while we napped and Graham never knew the difference :) I do have several things on my "Nesting List" I would like to have in order before she gets here, and I have 2 weeks before I am full-term to get them done.

2. Buy crib mattress

Nursery Progress

Still not done with Little Miss' nursery, but progress has been made!! In my baby shower post you can see a little sneak peek of the room and today I ordered a few more things to help complete it! I love ordering online, so easy and I get to look forward to my package arriving :)

You can see in the background, we put the crib together, finished painting her room and bought her dresser/changing table....

This sweet little door hanger should be arriving tomorrow

I ordered this wooden monogram for above her crib today

And I also pulled the trigger on this chandelier tonight, after debating and debating on which chandelier to get her. It helped that it was on sale for cheaper than I've ever seen it :)

In other news, I went to see my doctor this morning to check on everything since our eventful Valentine's night. I was so happy to hear that everything looks good, I have no restricions and Claire looks like she will be staying put for a few more weeks at least!! I am so relieved. There is a lot to get done before we are ready for her arrival and I want her to be as healthy and developed as can be. Less than 3 weeks until she is full-term though, so we don't have much time!!

My goal is to have her nursery ready by the time the chandelier and monogram arrive (2 weeks). I can't wait!!!

Mama Drama

I'll post about our Valentine's Day soon, but last night we had a little unexpected trip to L&D. Chad and I were at dinner when I started feeling a lot of braxton hicks. I've been feeling them for several weeks, but I was having a TON. As we were finishing up dessert, I finally started timing them, and they were coming on every 3 minutes. We got home and my parents were watching Graham for us, so we told them what was going on and I rested on the couch drinking lots of water while they stayed to make sure the contratctions subsided.

After a full hour had passed of me timing contractions, they were getting more intense and I started to feel a lot of pressure with each one. They were super uncomfortable and getting painful, so we decided I should call the on-call doctor and head to the hospital. Thank goodness my parents were there, so they just stayed with Graham and put him to bed while we headed to L&D.

Once we arrived and were set up in a triage room, I was hooked up to a monitor, and it showed I was contracting. She did a fetal fibronectin test (which came back negative) and checked my cervix. I was a tiny bit dialated and my cervix is thin and she could feel Claire's head but it isn't engaged. She hooked me up to an IV to get some fluids in me and help stop the contractions. She also put me on bed rest until I can see my doctor in the morning. We got home around 2 a.m. and I felt some more contractions on the way home but they had slowed down. I wasn't dehydrated and there were no recent... ahem..."activities" that would have made me contract, so I guess it's a mystery as to why it happened.

My mom is hanging out with me and Graham today since I'm not supposed to do any lifting. Thank goodness for Mommas!! :) I'll find out more in the morning, but today I'm just taking it easy and hoping Claire stays put for a few more weeks!!

34 Weeks

How Far Along: 34 Weeks... Can't believe in 3 weeks time I will be "Full Term"!!!

Size of baby: A durian fruit 4.2 pounds to 5.8 pounds and measures about 17.2 to 18.7 inches.

Total Weight Gain: 146.4; 21 pounds gained

Maternity Clothes:

Movement: Hiccups, kicks, rolls, lots of movement.

Sleep:Sleeping good still.

What I miss: Being comfortable!! Doesn't matter if I'm sitting, standing or walking, I am in some sort of discomfort these days. I am feeling a ton of pressure, and very sore. Hope all this means she will be a little early and a quick labor!

Cravings: Cereal!

Symptoms:  Swelling has been better, but the pressure is insane. So are the braxton hicks.

Best Moment This Week: The baby shower!!!

What I'm looking forward to: A Valentine's Day date with my hubby, getting the rest of the essentials for Claire and finally finishing the nursery!!
Milestones: She's recognizing and reacting to simple songs, if you're singing them. (If you're not, start! She may find them soothing after birth.) She's also urinating about a pint a day.

Showered With Love

Saturday morning my wonderful sister, mom, mother-in-law, Aunt Patti, and friend Traci threw a beautiful baby shower for Baby Claire and I!!! We had it at our home because my sister and Aunt live out of town and my parents and Chad's paretns are in the process of remodeling. It was so nice not having to haul all of the gifts home, though! :)

The adorable invitations:

Terah and I

Game time! This was so fun, Traci had me fill out a piece of paper with 2 columns, one for me and one for Chad. It had a list of characteristics like (sense of humor, hair, legs, smile, etc.) and I had to pick which one I'd want Claire to take after. Who ever had the closest answers to mine won a prize. There was a tie, so the tie breaker was "What's Claire's middle name?" So fun! By the way, I may have looked at the papers after the shower and most people said Claire should have her daddy's hair, my sense of humor and Chad's intelligence, HA! I would have to agree with everything but the hair!! ;)

The gorgeous afgan knitted by Mrs. Schindewolf (Traci's mother-in-law) SOOO SWEET!!!!
