Claire's Birth Announcements

I finally got around to ordering and mailing out Claire's birth annoucements. I LOVE how they turned out!! I only ordered around 15, so I sent them to mainly family. With facebook, my blog and her being 2 months old, I figured most people have seen Claire already :) We are just so proud of her, and like her birth announcements say.... so, so BLESSED by this sweet girl.

Southern Sweet Tea

One of my favorite things about the south is sweet tea, especially in the summer. Well, this southern girl can't make iced tea to save her life. Until recently, whenever I've made attempted to make iced tea, it's been way too weak. Pretty much just brown water. Eww. My dear friend (and photographer of all our recent family pictures), Amber came to visit last month, and when I offered her something to drink, she chose the "tea" I had made. I warned her it wasn't very good, and she agreed (in the sweetest way possible) that, in fact, it was a little weak. She then told me her new mother-in-law makes the best sweet tea and decided to share the recipe with me! She gave me a quick lesson, and it turned out perfect! I've made several delicous jugs of sweet tea since! I'm sure I'm probably the only southern girl with this problem, but I'll share the recipe anyway :) There were just a few simple tricks I didn't know about that made all the difference.

Southern Sweet Tea:
Take one medium pot of cold water filled almost to the top.
Bring pot of water to a rolling boil.
Turn off heat, and remove pot from heat.
Place 3 tea bags (I use Luzianne's decaffeinated family-size) in water
Let steep for 15 minutes.
While tea is steeping, fill a large jug about 3/4 full of ice.
After 15 minutes, remove tea bags.
Pour 1 cup of sugar in the hot pot of tea, and stir. (the hot tea will dissolve the sugar)
Pour pot of tea in jug with ice.
No need to add water, as the ice will melt and also cool the tea.
Pour over a glass with ice and enjoy!!!

Claire: 2 Months

On Saturday Claire turned 2 months old! She really is looking less like a newborn and more like a baby everyday. That makes this mama happy and sad :( We had her two month well-check today, and she is looking perfect!! Right on target physically and developmentally. She even smiled at me after her shots, sweet girl. I cannot explain how much we all love this little sweetie pie. She's a bit of a mama's girl (mama's got the milk) so she isn't quite as happy if I'm not around. Last night I ran to the grocery and as I'm loading up the groceries in the car, I see Chad's text: U almost done?????? haha! Poor daddy- Claire cried the whole entire time he said!!! Poor girl!!! I was a little irritated that he didn't tell me she was upset... I would've hurried up more! I was taking my time, enjoying the alone time and had no idea my baby was upset :( Other than that, she is usually a happy, content baby!

-Sleeping at night usually from 10 pm- 4:30 am
-Eating about every 2-3 hours in the daytime. Feeding her on-demand so I don't really keep track of exactly how long she goes.
-Napping 3-4 times a day. Naps in her swing or in my arms mostly.
-Is a "happy spitter" but spits of a lot. Girlfriend always has a bib on her these days.
-Still doesn't like her paci all that much.
-Sleeps swaddled with her arms out at night. I mostly just swaddle her legs to keep her more warm. Our room is cold at night with the fan blowing.
-Started smiling last week!!! Has the most precious grin!!
-Wearing size 3 month clothes and size 1 dipes
-Loves to be held, and of course nursed
-Still has dark hair. Maybe has lost a little of it, but most of it is still there!!
-Likes to ride in the car, go on walks, and be outside
-LOVES her big brother, even when he accidentally plays too rough, she is already a tough little cookie!
-Not a fan of tummy time, but holds her head up really well, and can support her weight on both legs, just like her big brother could. Strong little babies! :)

{2 Month Stats}
Weight: 10 pounds, 8.3 oz. {38th %}
Height: 22.5 inches {53rd %}
Head Circumference: 14.57" {8th %}

I was surprised her head was so small in percentile, it looks porportional to me, and the doctor wasn't concerned. He said she looks healthy and perfect! :)

Family Resemblance?

I thought it was time to do a comparison of my kiddos.Quite a few people have said that Claire looks a lot like Graham, but almost all of them say they look more alike in pictures than in person. Sometimes, I definitely see a similarity, but I also think they look quite a bit different. Claire's skin has a much darker tone. She is my little olive-skinned baby. I just love her coloring, it's so beautiful! She also has dark hair, and more of it. When I was pregnant my sister always said she pictured Claire as a little brunette, and I did too!! Looks like we were right :) Graham's hair had fallen out a lot by this time, but she still has most of her hair, so maybe I won't have another baldy (not that I mind!! Bald babies are adorable). Claire's eyes are darker too, I think they may already be turning brown like her Mama and her Mimi's eyes. Graham's are hazel like his Daddy's and his Aunt Mer. I think their noses are different, too. Claire's is a little thinner and longer, but they both have adorable button noses. Claire is also a little longer in general, even her tiny little fingers are long. Their chin and mouths are very similar, though. They also both have those big, bright eyes. What do you think? Are they the spitting image of each other or polar opposites?
Either way, they are both absolutely perfect in my eyes!!!

Mother's Day Weekend {2012}

We had a good weekend with lots of family time. On Friday afternoon, Chad came home with 3 cards for me, one from him, one from Graham and one from Claire :) He also bought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers that were waiting for me in the front seat of my car to surprise me when I got in. So sweet! Friday night, Graham spent the night with his grandparents. We dropped him off around 6:00, and then attempted to go to dinner with just Claire. Usually eating out with just one kid in tow is a treat, but the little Miss decided she was hungry/fussy/tired, so needless to say it wasn't the most relaxing of dinners. We kind of picked a bad restaurant, too (they didn't even have high chairs-should of been our first clue!) It was raining though, so we were hurrying to get somewhere. Everyone was super nice, though. We just felt bad having a fussy baby in a nice restaurant---she was literally the only kid in there, ha! Lucky for us, everyone was gushing over how cute and beautiful she is, and our waiter was super nice, so it wasn't too bad. ;) We hurried and ate, got dessert to-go and booked it  home.

Graham was a little homesick, so he didn't sleep too good at his grandparents house, which made for a fussy toddler on Saturday, despite his record-long nap. He went to bed around 11:30 (his normal bedtime is between 8 and 8:30!) I picked him up at about 10 am, took him back to our house where he immediately went down for a nap, then I went and got a mani/pedi while Chad stayed home with the kids. I had a gift certificate from Chad's parents from my birthday and was just now getting around to using it!

After Graham woke from his nap, we went to my parents and hung out by the pool and had a delicious filet steak dinner. We didn't stay too long after we ate, because Graham was fit to be tied. Poor baby was so tired, but he had lots of fun playing with his cousin and they even got to skinny-dip!! Cutest thing ever!!

Sunday we woke up early and went to church. When we picked Graham up from the nursery afterwards, we saw he had made some adorable Mother's Day crafts and there was a little bouquet of flowers for all the Mom's, so sweet! After church, we went to Chad's parents house to celebrate Mother's day and have brunch. We spent most of the afternoon there. Graham had a ball running around outside on their new deck and playing with everyone.

Afterward, we were driving home and decided on a whim to go look at a few open houses in the neighborhood where my cousin Shannon and his family live. We ended up dropping in on them, and Graham had a blast playing with their youngest, Landon who is 4 years older than Graham. On the way home, we stopped for a quick bite to eat, and then headed home to put Graham to bed and watch some TV. Chad was so sweet and cleaned the house and helped me get caught up on laundry while I nursed Claire before going to bed.

All in all, it was a great weekend. I just keep thinking how blessed I am to have such a perfect little girl and little boy. Life doesn't get much sweeter than that.

Happy Mother's Day to all the hard-working Mama's out there!!

Playing Catch-Up

Well, it's definitely harder to find time to blog now that I'm a mama of 2!! Claire is still feeding on demand, and napping sporatically (mainly in my arms), and in the evenings Chad has been using the computer for work, so I haven't had much time to blog. Thankgoodness for iPhones or I would feel completely cut off from the world, HA!

Anyway, things over here are going pretty good. Claire is growing like a weed! I am pretty sure she is weighing 10+ pounds. She will be 2 months old next week (crazy!!!) So I will do an update on her then. She is doing really good, though. Today is a rare day that she is actually napping without me holding her. I waited until she was good and asleep and have her propped in the boppy on the bed next to me.

Graham will be TWO in less than a month, and you sure can tell!! The infamous terrible two's are upon us. Don't get me wrong, he is still a happy, adorable and hilarious kid, but he sure knows how to let you know when he's not getting his way. Tantrums are a regular occurance, but thankfully they are still pretty short-lived. We are trying hard to teach him manners, and to say "No, thank you" when he doesn't want something, as opposed to flailing his arms wildly and screaming "NO!!!!" Let's just say it's a work in progress ;) We have been busy working on his 2nd birthday party, which will be a lot more low-key this year... that's the plan, anyway. At least there will only be 1 party this year! Haha! Of course, the theme will be Mickey Mouse. Graham can't get enough of "Me" (Mickey) as he say's. :)

Graham dropped his morning nap last week, so we've been keeping busy with playdates and outside time. Yesterday we had 3 two year olds and two babies here. It was fun and LOUD! Graham passed out in his high chair eating lunch, haha :) His other number one favorite these days, going to the "Par!!" (Park) We go to the park nearly every day. It's nice because Graham wears himself out for his nap most of the time. I'm trying to get in as much outside time as possible before it gets too hot. It's already in the mid to upper 80's most days and soooo humid. NOT looking forward to the heat of the summer. We took the kids to the Zoo this past weekend,  and it was so fun, but so hot! Graham had a blast. Especially because he's really into animals and animal noises right now. I'll do a separate post about the Zoo trip.

the boys using the trash can as a drum!

Playing hard is rough work!

Mother's Day is Sunday, so we have lots of plans for family time this weekend. Looking forward to a nice weekend celebrating the Mama's in our lives!!
