Claire: 4 Months

It's the 19th again, and you know what that means... Little Miss is 4 months old!!! We celebrated by going to the doctor and getting shots :( Poor girl!! Graham kept pointing at the band-aids on her legs, and saying "baby, boo boo" and "Poor girl" what a sweet big brother :)

Some thoughts: I still feel like Claire is a newborn in so many ways. She is still sleeping in the cradle next to our bed. I just don't have the heart to move her yet. Graham was in his crib by 3 months old, and napping in his crib during the day at this point. She has yet to do either. I just want her to grow up slower. Maybe it's because I now know how fast they do grow, and it's going by even faster this time. I feel like I am hanging on to these first months for dear life!

However, despite my best efforts, she is hitting milestones like crazy!  She is already rolling around the house!! Yes, you read that right, rolling BOTH ways consitently and getting her little booty to where she wants to go. Just a few minutes ago, I was on the floor leaned up against the loveseat with the laptop, and she was in the middle of the floor on her blanket, just hanging out. Before I knew it she had rolled across the room right up next to me!! Is this normal behavior for a 4 month old?! I know Graham wasn't able to do that at this age. He had only rolled over a few times from his tummy to his back. She has had the roll from her back to her tummy mastered for several weeks now.

At 4 Months Claire is:

-Still exclusively nursing. She nurses about every 2-3 hours. Still nursing on-demand
-Still spitting up quite a bit
-Sleeping from 10-5 at night, and napping 3-4 times during the day
-Babbling all the time! Can get pretty loud!! :)
-Laughing and smiling all the time
-Wearing size 2 diapers
-Wearing anywhere from size 0-3, 3 Months, 3-6 and 6 months (3 months and 3-6 mostly)
-Hair has thinned out quite a bit
-Still swaddled at night (with arms out)
-Still refuses to take a pacifer
-Likes to ride in the car, and take baths
-Loves getting raspberries on her tummy and feet
-Discovered her feet this week, and always playing with them!
-Chews on her hands, and sucks her two fingers
-Rolling both ways consistently and rolling around the living room
-Loves to watch her big brother, and gives him the biggest smiles!
-Loves her swing, bouncy seat and likes to watch Praise Baby

Claire's 4 month stats:

Her 4 month well check went great! She is growing perfectly, and hitting all her milestones. Always a relief to hear your baby is healthy and perfect. :)

Weight: 12 pounds, 5.4 oz (22.6%)
Height: 24" (42.5%)
Head Circumference: 15.75" (24.06%)

Her pedi said we could start her on rice cereal, and then move onto veggies. I think we may hold off on introducing solids until she is closer to 6 months, though.

Happy 4 months, Claire!!!! We love you to pieces, sweet girl!!!

SUYL: Mantles

I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner today for Show Us Your Life. I've always wanted to do a SUYL, so this is my first time!!

Since we moved into our house about a year and a half ago, I've changed up our mantle a few times. Partly, because I completely changed the color scheme of our house about a year ago, from red accents to seafoam. I was sick and tired of red. Seafoam is much more my style, and I've never looked back! :) I don't really decorate for different seasons, although I love that idea! I seem to lack the budget and the creativity though, so for now it stays pretty much the same year-round, except for at Christmas. I tried last year to do a little Halloween decorating with some fake cobwebs and spiders, but it was just so-so. Maybe I'll get some new ideas this year... Anyway, onto the mantles!

This was how our mantle (and living room) looked
when we first moved in... blah, blah boring

After a few months, I changed it up, but still wasn't super happy with it.

Here it is at Christmas last year. I love Christmas decorations. It's so depressing taking everything down after that ball drops :( I've been known to keep stuff up until close to February.... don't judge!

A closer look... I got the fireplace screen at Hobbly Lobby after we found our toddler eating
(yes, eating) the lava rocks out of the fireplace... Ha!!

This is how our manlte looks today...

And a view with the whole living room.
I got the mirror on some random clearance aisle at Hobby Lobby, about a year ago.
I picked up the candlesticks, candles and the seafoam jar from HL as well.
The picture frame was one I just had lying around.
I'm not too crazy about it, so maybe I'll switch it out eventually.
I love our engagment picture though :)
The "And they lived happily ever after..." sign is from Target.
You can check out more of our house
in the link at the top of our blog.

Thanks for stopping by!! :)

Easy Weeknight Dinner: Mexican Stuffed Bell Peppers

One of our favorite dinners is stuffed bell peppers. My mom gave me this recipe; It was a family favorite when I was growing up. Its super easy and good. Usually stuffed bell peppers are an italian-type dish, but my mom puts a mexican spin on them. I hadn't made them in a while, so I decided to whip some up last week. Here's the recipe
1 lb lean ground beef
4 bell peppers, washed, seeded and cut in half lenth-wise
1 can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
1 package taco seasoning
1 can tomato sauce
Shredded cheese (I use cheddar or mexican blend)
Preheat oven to 350
Boil bell peppers until tender
Cook and drain beef.
Add taco seasoning and tomato sauce, simmer until good consistency, add pinto beans.
Place bell peppers in a 9X13 glass baking dish
Spoon mixture into bell peppers, and top with cheese
Bake until cheese is melted, about 5-10 min.
Serve with rice, salad, or cornbread muffins. We also added some taco sauce on top this time, and it was really good.
Simple and delicious weeknight dinner!

Random Catch-Up

Claire and Daddy on Sunday evening while I watched The Help :)

A daddy pyramid! Trying to keep the babies occupied while I cook dinner

Graham's new trick

Having some daddy/daughter  tummy-time

We planted this gardenia plant by our front door a little while back. My parents backyard has a big gardenia bush, and the
smell always reminds me of home :)

It's doing pretty good so far, despite the heat. The blooms smell amazing!

This little Miss rolled over for the first time last week!!! She rolled from tummy to back and then...

on Friday she rolled from back to tummy, several times!!!

Yay!!! Such a strong girl!! I can't believe she is already rolling both ways.
She is growing way too fast! :(

Baby loves her some bathtime!

Graham likes to watch Daddy leave in the morning

Does it get any cuter?? He is becoming such a big boy!

Caught this gorgeous sunset the other day

Texas has the best sunsets. I love that we have such a good view from both our backyard
and front yard.

Baby Lily's Shower

Last weekend, I went to a shower for my sweet friend, Jessica. She is pregnant with her 3rd baby, but her first girl! She is due in August, and we all can't wait to meet baby Lily (especially Claire!) :)  Claire went with Mama to the shower, and she stole the show! Everyone wanted to hold her, and everyone loved her hot pink party dress! It was a great shower with yummy food, fun games and visiting with friends. It was so nice to see our friend Nina, too who recently moved away from us. Claire and I definitely enjoyed our girl time! Chad took Graham on a few errands, and fed him lunch and had him down for a nap by the time we got home. :)

I also have a prayer request, please pray for Susan Schindewolf. She is a good friend of the family and my close friend, Traci's mother-in-law. Susan has been battling cancer, and she received some bad news this week in regards to her cancer. We are all praying for her, and the entire Schindewolf family!! I know they would greatly appreciate any and all prayers. Mrs. Schindewolf has 2 sons, a husband and 4 grandchildren. She is such a sweet, wonderful lady and we all love her. Thank you so much!!

Love conncection! :) Daddy said Claire isn't allowed to date...EVER!!! Ha!

Jessica and baby Lily!

We can't wait to meet you, baby Lily!!!

Happy 4th of July!

I just love the 4th of July!! It's right up there with my favorite holidays. I love the meaning, the way it seems to really kick of summer-time, the food, the time spent with family, and especially the fireworks!

This year, some of our sweet friends invited us over for a delicious brunch! They have 3 little ones of their own, and Graham had such a good time running around with them. Amy went all out and had the yummiest spread of french toast, bacon, fruit, hash browns, coffee and juice. Everything was so cute and good!!!

Sweet Bennett, he is just a year older than Graham.

Claire decked out for her 1st Fourth of July!

The Hilton Family, they look so cute in their Red, White and Blue!!

just transversed! :) I would just die to have those curls!!!

Adorable Garrett, the youngest Hilton :)

Chad was drying off Graham! He was such a sweaty mess!!

You can see why... :)

After we visited for a while, we headed home to (hopefully) get Graham down for a nap before the celebration with Chad's family at 3. He didn't really nap, but he still had a great time swimming and playing with his cousins. Every year his Aunt and Uncle host a 4th of July pool party, and it is always a blast. It was so fun. We ate barbecue and visited and a lot of the family met Claire for the first time. I even found Graham's bib from his first 4th of July, so she got to sport that. :)

Cooling off in the pool :)

Claire and her Grandma :)

We left around 6 so Graham could take a quick nap before we met up with my parents for fireworks. No such luck with the nap again (except for the 10 min. nap during the drive home) I have no idea how this kid had the energy to stay up for fireworks, but he did!

Getting ready to watch the fireworks!

We met up with my parents at a local golf course that has the best fireworks show. We sprawled out our towels on the green and watched the show. Graham was scared at first, but eventually warmed up to them :) I was surprised because he LOVED the fireworks on New Years!

The best family shot we could get :)

Love my girl!

A little nervous about the fireworks at first

It was a great show!!

Graham also got to climb up in the firetruck that was there. My dad used to be the chief of the local fire department, and he knew the firefighters that were there. :)
After the fireworks were over, we headed home with one TIRED little two year old, and one crying little 3 month old! Thankfully, Graham slept hard as a rock, and didn't get up until 9 this morning! :)

Happy 4th of July!!!
