DallasTrip & The Pumpkin Village

We left for Dallas on Monday afternoon, and arrived just in time to check into our hotel, and change for dinner. We ate a yummy dinner, then headed to downtown Addison to walk around, and reminisce about our proposal. It was so fun taking the kids back to the spot where Chad proposed, but I didn't bring my camera!!! :( We will have to go back and take some pictures, it was so pretty with all the leaves changing! Chad proposed in the spring, so it was neat to see what it looks like in the fall. We headed back to the hotel after that, and called it a night! The kids did fairly well during the night. Claire slept next to me in one of the beds, and Graham and Chad took the other bed.

Tuesday, Chad had meetings, so I took the kids to North Park to get Chad's birthday present and try to make the day go by fast. We stopped for donuts on the way, and then we spent the bulk of the day walking the mall, eating lunch, and finally the kids passed out for a short nap in the stroller. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped to get some balloons for Chad so that the room would be somewhat special when he got back :) He opened his present, and then we got ready for dinner, and went to eat with a bunch of his coworkers. Graham and Claire were the entertainment of the night, and we had fun visiting with everyone.

On Wednesday, Chad had meetings all day again, so I took the kids to the Dallas Arboretum for the annual Pumpkin Village! I was so glad we made it to this, we actually just happened to be in Dallas when a blog I read Love From Texas posted on Monday night that they had gone. As soon as I saw the pictures, I knew I had to take the kids if it wasn't too far. Luckily it wasn't, so off we went! It was so amazing!! We lived in Dallas for several years when Chad was in college and I had never heard of this before. The whole time, I was wishing Chad was there, but we had fun anyway. It's truly amazing!!! You really felt like you had stepped into another world. They had Fairy Tale pumpkin cottages set up, each with a different theme. They even had Cinderella's carriage!  I can't wait to go back next year and take Chad and for Claire to be able to enjoy it as a toddler. Graham had a blast, and it was perfect timing, since we had just watched Cinderella for the first time the weekend before!

My amatuer pictures just do NOT do this place justice. It was simple magical, and I can't wait to go back!!! Somehow it even makes more more excited for our Disney World trip!!! :)

We stayed from about 11-2, so we headed back to meet up with Chad when he got out of his meetings. We met up with Chad, and headed straight home, since I had already packed up the car and checked us out of our hotel before we left that morning. It was a fun little trip, but I think we were all ready to be home. :) No such thing as a "low-key getaway" with two babies in tow!!! We were glad to be with daddy on his birthday though, and overall it was a good time!
